How to Wash Human Hair Wigs

If you have invested in an expensive human hair wig that you favor and wear with confidence, you must wanna achieve maximum lifespan and the best appearance of your wig. The important step to keep your wig clean and styled is washing your wigs correctly. This guide will cover the detailed steps.

-Washing Frequency
If your wigs have already get dirty, just wash it as soon as possible. Ideally, you should wash your wigs every 2 to 4 weeks for daily routine. If you seldom wear it, wash it once monthly. However, if you’re living around an odor environment, you’ll need to wash your wig more often.

-Brush or comb your wig to detangle it.
Use a wide tooth comb and your figures to brush your wig in following 3 stages:
a. Brush then ends first.
b. Then mid-lengths to the ends
c. Then the roots to the ends to remove all tangles

-Shampoo and Condition Your Wig
Mixed a mild shampoo and cold water, gently swirl and soak your wig for 5 minutes. After washing the shampoo with water, apply conditioner lightly and allow the hair to absorb the conditioner for about 2 minutes. Be sure that the water runs in the same direction as your wig hair as this will help your wig to remain tangle-free during the washing process.

-Drying Your Wig
Pat the excess water out of the wig with a towel avoid squeezing or wringing. Place clean wig on a wig stand and allow to air dry completely before combing, brushing, or styling. If you do not have a wig stand, you may place your wig on a tall slender object (such as a can of hairspray) covered with a hand towel. Once it is completely dry, you could brush your wig.
