How to Cut Lace off A Lace Front Wig

For people who are new to wigs, they may wonder what's the point of making the lace front so far out if they have to cut it all off anyway? Well, that’s because people have different hairlines. And some people like to thread a little of their hair through the lace.

Then how to cut the lace off a lace front wig properly? Is there any quick and easy way to do that? Am I able to make it look as natural as possible after the cutting? If you do have these doubts, try the following tips.

Step 1
Prepare a pair of pinking shears which you can get from a fabric store. Or you can also purchase texture shears when you’re cutting your hair. Both the two scissors have serrated edges on them. The serrated edges are the key secret to realize natural and real look of your hairline. The zigzag pattern helps to further blend out the line visually.

Step 2
Put your wig on the mannequin head and use hair clips to clip the hair back. If you don’t have a mannequin, put the wig on your own head and tie up the hair and then lift it off your head for easy cutting. Just make sure there is no hair hanging.

Step 3
Pick up your pinking shears and cut the lace off as close to the hairline. If you are too nervous thinking you’re going to cut it wrong, you may cut the lace a little bit further away from the hairline. 3/4 at the shortest just in case. And for the center forehead part of the lace, cut it a little bit closer to make it more natural.

Step 4
Pull some hairs that might have possibly come shedding from the cutting. And now you can put the wig on. Also the foundation is helpful to blend the lace with the color of your skin. Keep in mind that don’t put on too much foundation, otherwise it may get “stuck” in the little holes of the mesh of the lace.
Whether you get one of the hairdressers in the beauty shop or barbershop to cut the lace or do it on your own, both ways assure you a natural and pretty look with wigs.
